George, Anne and Beetle
Our major piece of news is that George came down from Scotland for a weeks' holiday. We saw George a bit and his dogs a lot, because he left his dogs with us while he travelled around visiting as many friends as possible. It was great to see him, and wonderful to see Moss (his Cocker Spaniel which we looked after as a puppy before we took her up to Scotland for his birthday present three years ago). Rex, his labrador puppy, was adorable, too. Midge the terrier was slightly less adorable, but he settled down well in the end - after a major showdown with Beetle.

Here are some photos of the farm animals in summer:

We have one ewe (blue number five, pictured above joining in with a barbecue) who thinks she's human. This year she had two lambs and she's determined to keep them round the house, eating roses, petunias and barbecued beefburgers (she draws the line at lamb chops) . She's very good at evading capture, and slunk off somewhere during shearing:

Tee!Hee! Can't catch me!
Find out in the next blog whether she's had a haircut yet.....
